The research firm and the publication polled workplaces, both small (10 to 999 employees) and large (1,000 or more), representing about 5.3 million U.S. workers.<\/p>\n<p>To be considered, companies had to employ at least 50 millennials. The survey itself consisted of 60 questions regarding \u00ab\u00a0the extent to which their organization creates a Great Place to Work For All,\u00a0\u00bb with special focus on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/franchise-list-page\/best-workplaces-millennials-methodology-2021\">millennial trust and self-actualization<\/a>\u00a0in an organization.<\/p>\n<p>So, what makes a millennial want to stick with a company? Below is advice from five key players on the large workplaces list.<\/p>\n<div class=\"hybrid-ad-wrapper hide-small show-large\">\n<div class=\"hybrid-ad-inner-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"hide-small show-large\">\n<div data-container-ad-unit-id=\"\/21662595662\/hrdive\/hrdivehybrid2-desktop\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"dfp-hybrid2-desktop\" data-google-query-id=\"CNCp1NCws_ICFc-JhQodJHsOgA\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/21662595662\/hrdive\/hrdivehybrid2_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"standard-heading\"><strong>Altria Group, No. 45: Prioritize work-life integration<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Even prior to the pandemic, some\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/rachelritlop\/2016\/12\/18\/work-life-balance-vs-work-life-integration-is-there-really-a-difference\/?sh=2d0071413727\">HR pros championed \u00ab\u00a0work-life integration\u00a0\u00bb<\/a>\u00a0over work-life balance. The difference? According to UC Berkeley\u2019s Haas School of Business,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/haas.berkeley.edu\/human-resources\/work-life-integration\/\">integration creates \u00ab\u00a0synergies\u00a0\u00bb<\/a>\u00a0between multiple facets of life, including work, home, family, community, personal well-being and health. In short, it\u2019s not about a binary, but a union.<\/p>\n<p>This ethos, an Altria spokesperson explained, is why millennials are thriving at this tobacco company. \u00ab\u00a0Altria understands that millennials are looking for employers who see them as whole human beings rather than just employees,\u00a0\u00bb George Parman, director of communications, said in an email. \u00ab\u00a0They\u2019re seeking workplaces that allow for true work-life integration and benefits to complement their lifestyle.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"standard-heading\"><strong>HubSpot, No. 15: Take mental health seriously<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure class=\"inside_story\">\n<div class=\"figure_content\">\n<div><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hrdive.com\/user_media\/diveimage\/pexels-zen-chung-5749806.jpg\" width=\"488\" height=\"325\" data-imagemodel=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"inside_story_caption\">\n<div class=\"source_text\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"clearfix\"><\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Investment in employee growth, both personal and professional, is a crucial reason why HubSpot is a great place to work, according to Director of Employer Brand and Internal Communications Hannah Fleishman.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Free food and ping pong tables aren&rsquo;t culture,\u00a0\u00bb Fleishman said in an email. \u00ab\u00a0Mental health is becoming increasingly important to HubSpotters and so we introduced a new benefit called Modern Health in 2021, which gives employees access to therapy and coaching sessions.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, leadership wants employees to show up as their best selves.\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0That&rsquo;s why we listen to employees, act on their feedback and are constantly working to build a culture where everyone feels like they belong,\u00a0\u00bb she said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"standard-heading\"><strong>Zillow Group, No. 24: Offer flexibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Cat Neilson, Zillow\u2019s senior manager of employer branding and a self-identified millennial, said that reimagining where and how work gets done gives a lot of meaning to her team\u2019s day-to-day work. \u00ab\u00a0We\u2019re focused on unlocking mobility for customers and in the housing market \u2014 a mission that extends to employees\u2019 lives as they\u2019re able to work from anywhere. It\u2019s a more equitable, efficient and inclusive approach that we believe is setting the standard for what the future of work can look like,\u00a0\u00bb Neilson said in an email interview. \u00ab\u00a0Millennials care about working with purpose, flexibility and a true sense of belonging for all, and those are shared passions across all the generations inside Zillow.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"standard-heading\"><strong>Hyatt Hotels Corp., No. 20: Let employees show up authentically<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure class=\"inside_story\">\n<div class=\"figure_content\">\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hrdive.com\/user_media\/diveimage\/pexels-rfstudio-3810756.jpg\" width=\"459\" height=\"306\" data-imagemodel=\"-1\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"inside_story_caption\">\n<div class=\"source_text\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"clearfix\"><\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Nikki Massey, a senior vice president of human resources, Americas at Hyatt Hotels Corp., also said that prioritizing employee wellness is crucial.<strong>\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0<\/strong>Our focus is on cultivating an environment where our colleagues can be their true selves and flourish both personally and professionally,\u00a0\u00bb Massey said in an email interview. In caring for \u00ab\u00a0the heart of Hyatt,\u00a0\u00bb Massey and her team look to \u00ab\u00a0advance holistic well-being\u00a0\u00bb from health and safety, talent development and DEI.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0From the pandemic to racial injustice to financial hardships, the need for companies to address challenging issues head-on is critical,\u00a0\u00bb Massey said in an email interview, touching on what Randstad CDIO Audra Jenkins calls\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrdive.com\/news\/bipoc-employees-prefer-remote-work\/604132\/\">\u00ab\u00a0a triple pandemic.\u00a0\u00bb<\/a>\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0We have long believed that only companies who operate with a purpose beyond financial gain can thrive and contribute to a greater good for this world,\u00a0\u00bb Massey added.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"standard-heading\"><strong>Cisco, No. 1: Put people first<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>At the top of Fortune and Great Place to Work\u2019s large companies list is Cisco. According to Macy Andrews, senior director of people, policy and purpose, Cisco\u2019s people-first, community-oriented approach is what earned the company the top spot.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Being part of a company that uses its position and influence to advance causes \u2014 whether it\u2019s social justice, sustainability, [fighting] homelessness, or empowering our employees to give back to the community \u2014 gives greater purpose to every employee, in every role,\u00a0\u00bb Andrews said in an email. It\u2019s why employees say they\u2019re proud to work there, she explained.<\/p>\n<p>She also added that career development opportunities and space to show up authentically are a part of Cisco\u2019s appeal.
